A gravel bike. Made of carbon fiber. With quality parts.
Sure… The Revolt checks those boxes, yet this is an item greater than the sum of its parts.
Giant has worked black magic on the Revolt. They’ve mixed technologies in unholy ways. Cast spells to shed weight, while providing a ride quality and price point that others can’t match. The devil lives in this bike. It’s hidden in the details you didn’t notice at first glance.
Fit
Long top tubes, shorter stock stems, and a flip chip to change wheelbase. The redesigned Revolt features a lower bottom bracket than previous iterations. It’s extremely stable, with a wheel base more than 4 centimeters (in the longest position) longer than a comparably sized TCR. That said, the Revolt is by no means a boat. Head tube angles were steepened to 71.5° (size medium), for a snappy feel.
FORM
A carbon fiber frame with large tires will always have great compliance, but to help provide more comfort, Giant lowered the seat stays on the Revolt while making them thinner to better absorb vibrations. It’s still a bike that can handle city limit sprints, but that extra bit of comfort will pay dividends on all day adventures. We dig the sloping top tube, and lower stays of this bike. They serve a purpose, and look great doing it.
Function
You can squeeze in massive 53mm tires in the long position (50mm in the short). There are water bottle/accessory mounts on the top and bottom of the down tube, the seat tube, and even the top tube. The fork has several racks mounts, and the frame boasts fender mounts.
Basically … it has all the mounts.
The Advanced 0 above features Shimano’s gravel specific GRX drivetrain and hookless carbon wheels, providing you with a bike that needs no upgrades for $4,400. A lot of money, but an incredible value when comparing the build to other brands.
